Website health check

“Our website looks OK, but it doesn’t bring any bookings.”

Your in-laws gave the text their seal of approval? Rob and Rebecca from the rambling club think the pictures are perfect?

Sometimes even the most appealing websites don’t bring any enquiries.

It’s often the problems that laypeople don’t see that cost you customers – and therefore income.

I analyse your website in the following areas:

  • Design
  • Content
  • SEO (search engine optimisation)
  • Accessibility
  • User experience
  • Legal**, such as GDPR etc
  • Technology

and find the invisible problems that put the brakes on your website – and tell you how to go about fixing them.

Clear report, clear priorities.

** On the understanding I’m absolutely not a lawyer. Comments, suggestions and recommendations to the best of my knowledge based on many years running websites in the UK and Germany. For legal advice, consult a lawyer who specialises in internet law.

Web designer Paul Jackson sits on the kerb with his laptop, ‘working’

I’m Paul Jackson, a European of British origin whose body is in Germany, but whose mind is still lingering in Sheffield. I help customers in the UK and in the German-speaking countries.

I’m not a typical designer, developer or editor, but rather, someone who plans and implements projects from beginning to end. Interdisciplinary working at the interface of design, technology and words – for more than 25 years.

A one-person team with agency thinking – without the agency overheads. Digital solutions that don’t simply just work, but are well thought out – in terms of design, technology and content.

Sniff out the invisible problems that put the brakes on your website and cost you customers.

That’s true; there are.

Whoever uses a search engine to find a website audit or website check etc usually wants a free tool. That’s the reason there’s so many of the things and why they occupy all the top spots.

And yeah, some of them are really useful – if you understand the results.

Because these are mostly intended for experts who know – or at least, suspect – that something’s amiss with their website. For laypeople, they’re often full of jargon.

“Eh? How am I supposed to fix something I don’t understand?”

I provide you with a well-founded report on your website’s performance, including concrete action according to priority.

Good question. Just about everyone and their dog offers a website check or audit. Because these were once in vogue in the online marketing scene as being a quick, easy way to earn money.

These website checks are often relatively inexpensive, that’s true, but they’re superficial. And they’re often just bait – the person or agency offering them actually wants to sell you a new website.

With me, it’s different.

Absolutely no sales pressure whatsoever.

What?! Don’t I want your money?

It depends. I want to help customers who are a good fit. And since 2022, I’ve been using my favourite content management system Contao. But this isn’t the right CMS for every use case or customer.

With my comprehensive website health check and its clear recommendations, you’re free to implement these however – and with whomever – you want. So we both gain from it.
